The Underground Labyrinth of NYC

Today’s mystery is about the underground labyrinth, a maze that’s never been solved, deep under Manhattan.

You would presume that such a large and impressive maze would have been discovered by now, after all, it’s sitting right under one of Earth’s biggest metropolises! But surprisingly it’s never been found. Not even when the subways and underground tunnels were built, the secret maze was only mere metres away! And yet it remained hidden, undetected by modern sonar and technology.

But whatever the reason that it hasn’t been discovered –although a mystery in itself– the true mystery is why it even exists!

I’ve heard rumors that it was for the Lënapeyok’s very own minotaur. A Mhuwe that had been terrorizing the people of the Pùkuwànku tribe for generations before finally being caught. Not knowing what to do with it, they crafted an ingenious maze from which it could never escape.

It was lit with artificial light which was reflected by smooth stones and cast an eerie glow to the tunnels. Supposedly this maze has the capacity to move the rooms when they are empty, making the Mhuwe forever lost within its walls, looking for a way out and new flesh to eat, for all of eternity!

The maze is said to be sealed tight, ancient inscriptions and prayers etched into its only locked entrance. The words are very clear: Never, under any circumstances, do you open these doors.

I’m sure that will do the trick. After all, who isn’t proficient in the ancient Unami language?
