The Odd Orb of Novi
Today I’m writing down my thoughts on the strange oddity that is the Orb of Novi, discovered in a thick forest in 1300ato (along-time-ago), which no archaeologist can determine how it got there or how it was floating in the air, a good two meters above the ground!
–Well, no one but me, of course.
As it was I who, er misplaced it, in the forest in the first place!
But where the Orb originally came from is quite the story!
Crafted with sand from the deepest ocean floors, the orb was sprinkled with the dust of strange tiny forest creatures, as it was heated and carefully blown into shape!
As it cooled down, legend says that a freezing gust of wind unexpectedly blew through the village, cracking the orb with the intricate patterns! But instead of breaking, the tiny fractures were filled in with tree amber before being polished to perfection!
But other than being both giant and beautiful, what is so special about the Orb of Novi?
It’s actually quite simple, the Orb carries the remnants of pixie dust and bones of ancient leviathans which were smashed along the ocean floors, reduced to nothing but sand!
This curious blend of forest and ocean imbues the decorative glass ball with a unique energy, something not seen often. This energy buzzes against the dirt floor, raising the orb into the air! – But never very high, as the Orb is always trying to return to the seas as well.
When I found it, it was floating and bobbing above the ocean waves, while I was sailing on an expedition to a frozen Tundra. The Orb gleamed in the morning light and simply took my breath away. In that moment I knew that I must have it!
Retrieving it, sadly, was much more complicated than I anticipated. It was a whole debacle! Several people were lost to the sea, our boat almost sank, and an angry walrus was involved, but in the end it was safe in my care.
How unfortunate it was that we could only just barely roll it into the forest before it froze in place, refusing to go any further, yearning instead to return to the sea.
Now, you might be wondering why I didn’t return it to the sea? Well, it has something to do with a giant creature with venomous fangs and a tribe of not so friendly locals who didn’t appreciate my debonair style…
